The Work
Black Ottoman Carnations is a one-of-one framed textile artwork, hand-embroidered in silk. The long, narrow format is designed for architectural placement, bringing rhythm and clarity to corridors, entries, and vertical wall planes without visual noise.
The surface is built as a repeat field of stylised carnation forms, arranged in measured rows down the length. Each motif is held within consistent spacing and orientation, so the composition reads as a single system rather than separate elements. Fine stem and leaf elements sit beneath each bloom, adding structure while keeping the field clean and restrained.
Colour Logic
Colour is used to increase legibility. A deep black ground sets depth and contrast. The carnations are rendered in ivory, edged with fine red lines that sharpen the silhouette and keep the repeat crisp. The result reads clearly from a distance, then resolves into stitch texture and edge decisions up close.

Authenticity and Colour
Hand embroidery carries natural variation in tension and surface texture. Black reads densest in lower light, while ivory and red outlining lift most clearly in daylight. Screen settings vary, so colour may differ slightly in person.
