The Work
Domes of Hagia Sophia is a one-of-one framed textile artwork, hand embroidered in silk. The format is long and narrow, built for architectural placement where proportion matters. It is designed for corridors, entries and tall wall planes that benefit from steady rhythm rather than noise.
The surface is organised as a continuous dome field. Small scalloped units stack in offset rows from top to bottom, creating a curved geometry that reads as a single canopy. Each dome is held inside a clear outline and a controlled interval, so the repeat stays calm and legible. A slim border runs the perimeter and locks the field in place without interrupting the flow.
Colour Logic
Colour is used structurally. A deep, dark ground sets depth and increases contrast. Domes move through measured bands of terracotta, saffron, stone, blue grey and muted neutrals. The palette shifts gradually as you move down the piece, creating vertical movement while keeping the repeat stable. Fine outlines keep each unit distinct so the work reads clearly from a distance and resolves into stitch texture up close.

Authenticity and Colour
Hand embroidery carries natural variation in tension and surface texture. Dark grounds read densest in lower light, while the warm terracotta and pale domes lift most clearly in daylight. Screen settings vary, so colour may differ slightly in person.
