The Work

Empire’s Moonlit Garden is a one-of-one framed textile artwork, hand-embroidered silk on silk. The format is square and contained, designed to sit with calm authority on a wall without needing scale to create presence. 

The surface is built as a repeat field of tulip forms, held in measured rows across a black ground. Each unit is contained by clean outlines and consistent spacing, so the pattern reads as a single system rather than separate elements. Small red accents and stem details introduce controlled points of energy without breaking the field.

Colour Logic

Colour is used to increase legibility. A deep black base holds the composition. Tulip forms shift between cool blue-grey and ivory, with restrained red accents acting as punctuation. The result reads clearly from a distance, then resolves into stitch texture and line decisions up close.
