Ottoman Quatre Fleur Framed Textile
The most revered embroidery technique of the Central Asian region, Suzanis were traditionally made as hangings featuring designs of flowers and meandering vines. Honoring the tradition of Suzani hand embroidery and vegetable dying, Mekhann brings a contemporary approach to embroidery, uniting traditional craft with modern design.

Two distinctly Ottoman styles were produced in the court ceramics workshops of Isnik. Saz, combining floral palmettes and curving, spiked leaves and the floral style, which this piece takes after, features a design of flowers including carnations, tulips, plum blossoms and hyacinths. Whilst the design references are historic, this piece is contemporary in its palette and composition.
